A Note From World Dance director and organizer of this stupendous event, Janet Reineck:

Thank you ALL for your extraordinary gift of time, focus, enthusiasm and trust that made this year’s event such a success, such a THRILL! I’m especially grateful to:

Xela AID Director Leslie Baer and her husband Mel for making the trip from San Diego to be part of the event, and for inspiring us all – www.XelaAID.org

Sue Spencer at the SB County Parks department for helping us with everything needed to mount a splendid event at the Courthouse!

Laura Peterson and Laura Combs for their tireless work teaching the dance at the park (and to 10 newbies on the day of the event!) and helping everyone get up to speed on the dance

Kathie Organ, Leah Combs and their team of volunteers who helped with registration

Laura Peterson for being our liaison with Thrill the World and taking care of the detailed registration and documentation process

Katherine Connally for her excellent, generous, steadfast work on the World Dance website, all at no cost to us – thank you for joining us at the event – great to finally meet you!

Jenna Tico, for her brilliant and brave single-handed mounting of Thriller at Scripps and surrounding colleges – all in support of Women for Women International

Charles Utts at Custom Printing in Oxnard (www.customprintinginc.com) who printed all of our materials for free

Kathleen Kennedy at Waller Design in Ventura www.wallerdesignonline.com) for designing and continually updating the Thriller posters – for free

Victor Ortiz and Ron Romano at Luners in Ventura (www.Luners.com) for donating the fantastic sound and lighting equipment

Clara Sarabia, Lin Aubochon and the crew at KLITE & KTYD for their fantastic coverage

Juanita Johnson for organizing the flashmobs – this evolved into a fabulous extra Thrill for all of us

Joan Melendez and everyone who helped with make-up and made the experience even more magical for all

Leanne Tomason, Jonathan  Thompson, and Andrew Gutierrez – our awesome “Beat It” soloists

Jeanna Morelli and Karen Schultz for their enormous help with equipment and supplies

Jesi Vasquez for her amazing fortitude transporting and setting up the equipment for the event and helping us till the very end of the evening with Sherry Robin and Leanne Tomason’s assist.

Justin Flint, our intrepid World Dance drummer and Thriller DJ, who assisted the sound crew in the entire setup and breakdown process

TILL NEXT YEAR…

“I keep on dancing…and dancing…and dancing, until there is only…the dance.”  Michael Jackson

Get Your Thriller Zombie On….

“Thrill The World”… By dancing in unison, with other “thrillers” ALL OVER THE WORLD- AT EXACTLY THE SAME TIME!  to Michael Jackson’s infamous Thriller.

And you know, look good- ghastly good, while doing so. Bust out those rags, paint your nails black and drag your undead self out to play.

All funds raised by Santa Barbara Thrillers go directly to the Mayan village of San Martin Chiquita, in the highlands of Guatemala.  The goal is to raise at least $3,000 to support the work that Xela Aid is providing this community. (www.xelaaid.org)

Lots of Ways to Help:

• $20 one time fee to be a Thriller dancer (the $20 goes to Guatemala)

• Sponsor a class (info here)

• Sponsor a dancer (sponsor sheet here.  World Dance info here)

What’s In It For You?

• Get some costume help and look your undead finest

• Win a free massage or GYROTONIC session

• Good karma for participating in an event that gives to charity

• Have FUN!
